Hakim and Robert... Two of the most amazing, handosme, talented and truly inspiring young men I know. I am so thankful to have crossed thier paths. It's so easy to get caught up in our own worlds and not take the oppertunity to get to know people from different walks of life, different neighborhoods, different cultures, different churches even. It's so easy to fall into the trap of moving through the days of our lives without traveling out of the circles of people who are "like" us. I can say with 100% confidence that being thrown into a completely different world when I hit college away from my family, my comforts and my "circle" was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I was forced to widen my view of this big world and the people and places in it. Uncomfortable sometimes yes, but wow, what doors opened. I have learned that we are all much more alike than we are different in the areas that really matter. We may all have different life experiences, but happiness is still found in a laugh, a simle a hug and pain and hurt are still shed out in tears, anger and frustration. We all have both and when we take the time to branch out of our comfort zones those things are what unite us, not the clothes we wear, the neighborhoods we grow up in or even in the places we spen our time. Those are superficial... The emotions of our heart will built bonds that this crazy world can't break down, that our society's won't tear apart. I am thankful for these two, for taking a chance on me, this little girl from Simpsonville who doesn't look, talk, or dress like them.. For trusting me with thier time, thier talents, thier hopes and dreams. All I have to offer them is myself, my hurts, my joys, my faith, my dreams... as so far for all of us it's enough. I am so incredibly proud of you two for overcoming life, for setting goals for yourselves and for not giving up even when the going gets tough. You are two of my greatest heros, you make me want to be a better person. You make me remember every day to NEVER take advantage of my gifts and talents and oppertunities. I am so thankful you are part of my life! I love you, Brent loves you, and you know the little Cobb's think you two hung the moon! Keep your chin up and your heart and minds focused on the one who created you for nothing short of greatness! Thanks for widening my view, for allowing me to be a part of your journey!
