Day 3 | Playlists

Friday, October 11, 2013

So, I started writing earlier today and then I opened the door to let the dog out and I realized how gorgeous it was. Remember from Day 1 how much I said I loved interruption? That little revelation led to me pulling my sofa outside my back door and curling up with a blanket and taking a nap… Seriously neighbors, the girl with the sofa in the yard at 11 am on a Friday morning, uh hu, that was me enjoying an interruption and some rest. For all of you who are already hating on me for this lazy morning experience, you should know that I had however been up since 5:30am and had gone on an hour long walk with these guys for a school field trip at 8am. That has to make my lazy nap…. on my sofa…  in my yard… more acceptable… Or not. Regardless, it was awesome and you should try it sometime!

The other part of my awesome nap was my playlist, which leads me to my post today. I am a bit obsessed with music.  And like everything else in my life, my playlist is pretty random and it just keeps evolving and becoming more diverse.

To prove that point, just today, I have caught Mary Cohen (my 4 year old) busting out the following lyrics randomly and for no apparent reason.  “this girl is on fire” , “in case you’ve never heard me before, my name is Propoganda”, “ bless the lord, oh my soul, oh my soul” and “your lipstick stain, on the front lobe of my left side brains”… She is a trip and she loves music just like her mamma. A little eclectic, free spirited girl well versed in quite a variety of tunes, some more age appropriate than others, which leads to one of my favorite talents.

I have this uncanny ability to bust out a song lyric for just about every moment you could ever imagine yourself in the middle of. (Some of you are grinning right now bc one of those moments just came to your mind!) Most of the time they come to me in moments that are heavy and serious and it’s just too much for me, so I break out some random song and bring instant relief to the tense situation upon me. Maybe it’s a defense mechanism, whatever it is, it works, it makes people laugh and that in itself is a win. Sometimes I probably shouldn’t say them out loud because they may or may not be the most appropriate for the times, but my lanta it is funny.  And funy is good for the soul.

I wish I could remember every title and musician for every song I love but here are a few of my recent favorites.

And about 500 more :/ for real..

So, what’s on your list? What music are you obsessed with as of late? Share it in the comments section below. I’d love to add something fresh to my playlist.

And one day soon, take an unexpected break, throw your furniture out and your ear buds in and just get lost in the music…

xoxoxo,
amanda
