Noonday Blog Train

Welcome my day of the Noonday Blog Train! I hope that you enjoyed Jennifer's post  yesterday and I want to remind you of Carey's post tomorrow! Both girls are doing a Noonday giveaway and who doesn't want free Noonday!

Now on to my thoughts for today...

If there is one word that describes me, I would say it's connector. I love connecting with people over small intimate conversation, but I also love connecting other people on a bigger scale, connecting people to things that matter. Nothing makes me feel more alive than connecting someone I know with someone or something else that I know will just empower them both for the better.

Noonday is such a beautiful avenue for me to do that for so many. I get to weave together of stories and artisans and hostesses and their guests. Strangers become friends and women around the world begin to become parts of one another's stories. It's impossible to attend a trunkshow, host a trunkshow, buy on of our artisans beautiful hand made items or simply scroll the website and not be made aware of our roll in a much bigger story. I love that Noonday makes those connections so simple.

When I was thinking about how those things happen I wanted to get feedback from the people who's threads have been woven together over my last year as a Noonday Ambassador. I have had the most passionate little Noonday loving people come along side me to partner with me on this amazing journey of seeking justice and providing an avenue for opportunity. I wanted to give voice to the customer, the hostess, the guest, and the ambassador. I wanted share with you what real people have to say. Here goes!

From Another Ambassador: What's Your Why? Why Noonday?

"The mission behind Noonday is what drew me, pulling people out of poverty and supporting adoption. I want to advocate for people and I want to step outside of my friend bubble and Noonday will help me do that. It's a way for me to tangibly make a difference without just offering my dollars. I can offer myself as a way to spread the word. I've known about Noonday since it's beginning or very early into it. The IF:GATHERING along with your encouragement pushed me to make my decision to jump in and make the decision to apply to become an ambassador!"    Jennifer in Maine

From My Customers: Why do your purchase from Noonday?

Stacey | I love that every piece has a real story. I love that when I wear Noonday no matter if I'm at the grocery store or out shopping in my favorite boutiques, it introduces me to conversations with strangers that walk away as a friends with a new found interest in Noonday. Noonday brings people together no matter if we are worlds apart!

Caroline | I love that it supports fair labor standards and it shows love to ALL of God's people.

From My Hostesses: Why did you host and what are your favorite parts of hosting a show?

Sara | I hosted my first show because I loved the idea of what Noonday was, I hosted my second because of what it is! My favorite parts are  gathering my friends and family together and trying on pieces from around the world that are crafted by hands that were perfectly gifted with talent by the Savior.

Kim | I love that Noonday provides a sustainable income and not a handout. I also love that it is helping women provide for their families so that they can stay in tact. I hosted because you asked me and because the cutest little girl of mine ended up in one of your photographs on the back cover! My favorite part of the show is when people think they are just coming to the show to buy cute jewelry but when they hear the artisans stories their eyes are opened to the bigger picture.

{Kim and I's girls}

Lisa | I hosted because I really believe that it is empowering people around the world, not only financially, but it helps to build up their self confidence and their self esteem. It's so much more than just the jewelry. It's about lives being changed around the world!

Tennille | I feel like letting people know about Noonday by hosting a trunk show is part ministry and part fellowship. The pieces are beautiful, unique and well made. Consciously buying products that are helping people around the world thrive instead of simply survive makes me feel like I'm doing something positive

On Hosting a Show:

"You won't regret it! You have the opportunity to empower women around the world. You'll be building strong communities, and helping to eliminate poverty all because of opening your home!"

"Jump! Do it! It doesn't matter if your house is cluttered or if you don't feel like a good host. It's about getting people together, raising awareness, and empowering these women who are so much like you and me and wouldn't we want someone to take a leap that would help us put our children in school or afford the basic necessities? I am happy to share why I love Noonday so much, especially today when I am decked out head to toes, earrings, bracelets and sseeko sandals."

"Just do it! You will be so thankful you did, you are helping another mother provide for her family"

"Do it! It's a fun way to hang out with your friends (and their friends too) and to encourage style with a positive purpose!

I think it's fair to say that Noonday is a platform for many things that truly matter. People matter and relationships are essential to empowering one another. We crave connections. We need one another. We need to keep reaching out and bringing awareness to things that affect one another in our homes and across the world.

I am giving away a woven wonders cuff to represent how our stories are so beautifully woven and connected together through this amazing thing called Noonday! And I'm asking you to partner with us to leave a mark on the world.

Leave a comment below and tell me how Noonday has created a connection in your life and I will draw a winner randomly a week from today!

Love and Blessings,

Amanda

  1. My sister-in-law became a Noonday ambassador shortly after my husband and I moved to Australia two years ago. She and I are best friends but aren't able to connect on the phone as much (or for as long!) as we used to. Noonday's become a connecting point for us-- we both have the same style & taste in clothing, decor, jewellery, bright colours, accessories, etc. and it's been great to both support her & my brother-in-law's adoption and chat about Noonday when we are able to connect. I'm grateful for a company that creates connections both within my community but also around the world... it's all about relationship. I think God must really love that.

  2. I have met so many sweet women at Noonday shows, many of which I knew their names (because of mutual connections), but had never actually met. It has also reconnected me with a dear friend after a few years of not seeing one another. It's very fun to attend Noonday events and sit across from women passionate about making a difference with their power as consumers -- they just get it. thanks for the chance!

  3. Noonday has connected me to the plight of women around the world. It's helped open my eyes to how easy & comfortable my life is, and how, by making small changes, I can have play a part in changing the stories of the artisans.

  4. Noonday has connected me to you in a much deeper way than just a teacher/parent relationship. I always noticed your edgy style in the halls at AJW, but I remember specifically when you wore your sseko sandals down those halls. That conversation led me to you and your precious heart that is lived out loud every where you go. Now, my next steps are to join alongside you and change the world one person at a time.

    1. Well Noonday defiantly made me more trendy! I still would not wear one item of jewelry if it didn't mean something. I love you and I am so glad we get to do live together even if it is virtually and I AM SO READY FOR YOU TO JOIN US!!! xoxoxoxo

  6. Noonday has helped me to feel connected with the hands and faces behind the products I buy. I hate buying something from the store and not knowing who stitched it together and what his or her life is like and whether or not he or she was treated fairly. Noonday makes me feel connected and gets me excited about helping other women make that connection! pllundgren06 AT gmail

    1. Agree! Most of the time the hands on the other end are not treated well. It's a sad reality.

  8. Amanda, Your ability to connect is so inspiring and invaluable! Personally, I feel SO much better about my purchases with Noonday knowing they are not just for my own gain. The stories of the people behind the pieces are precious b/c it connects us to so many other parts of the world and makes us think about where the things we purchase are coming from. Awareness leads to so many doors we never knew existed. Noonday is so much more than a catalog. It goes so much deeper! Also, the pieces of jewelry on a separate note, just feel so much more special. When you purchase Noonday, you know you will love it forever. Heart connection. :) Thanks for using your gifts to open eyes to all Noonday and women all over the world.

  9. A good friend of mine became an Ambassador back in the fall and as I've fallen in love with the pieces, we've become closer friends! I'm always texting her to tell her what I happen to be accessorized in that day and she sends me styling tips. It's awesome!

  11. Well Noonday allowed me to connect to you Amanda and I'm so grateful for that! And then you connected me to so many fabulous ladies through the IF gathering. And I'm looking forward to you connecting me one day to a gorgeous, Jesus loving man. ;)

  12. I feel so much more connected to the people who make the things I buy. I've always wondered "Who made this?" and "What is his/her life like?" when I shop. So much of what is on sale seems so impossibly cheap!!
Noonday helps to shop with confidence and wear what I buy with pride, knowing that my purchases are definitely doing good for the artisans!

  13. I LOVE watching ladies learn about Noonday for the first time and how it stirs their heart to spend more than they normally would to support the artists.

  14. noonday has connected the women in our church body in a unique way. we've rallied around abby, our local ambassador, and rallied together to use our purchasing power for good.

  15. Noonday has created a connection for me to each person who has helped make each and every thing I purchase. Not only the artisans/workers who are paid a fair price for their work but also those who are enslaved because of my desire to find super cheap goods. Definitely eye opening and humbling...

  16. Noonday has created a connection with this passionate girl named Amanda Cobb for me ;-) I love affecting world change in something I would already buy.

  17. I went to my very first trunk show with a friend way back in 2010 when it was still just Jessica running them. Since then, my friend and I have spread the word and we hardly know anyone in our various circles who isn't as in love with it as we are!

  18. I've been thinking so much about this question. It's a hard question for me to answer as I've not yet had a trunk show, or even attended one. I own a couple of beautiful pieces thru my friend and Ambassador Annie Phillips. I guess my connection would be through the stories that are shared on the blog train. I have learned so much...about artisans, communities, adoption, poverty, grace, love, hope, change, beauty, pride, humanity...lornacarnahan@gmail.com

  20. I love noonday and the opportunity to invest in the lives of mommas praying to bring babies home from all over the world! It's amazing how you can feel connected to an artisan you've never even met just by wearing something they have created!
