Crushing Idols.. my thoughts from IF & life one year ago today.

A dear friend sent me this song and said it would wreck me in a good way...

Because that's possible right? To be wrecked in a good way...

But it was everything my souls already been singing. And it did. It wrecked me.

I love how good music does that. It meshes the thoughts of your mind with the rhythms of your heart. It speaks what we are so often afraid to. It wrecks, but it heals. It gives power and it creates a place to be okay with having what you are most afraid of speaking, heard.

As I am currently in a time of watching one of my biggest dreams come true through a gathering and uniting of women a cross all kinds of boundaries, I have a thousand unspoken thoughts, fears if you will.

I have dreamed of a time and place where we stop settling for routine and stand up for getting back to the business of living like Jesus and being relevant to the needs of our time as the collective body of Christ. Life is passing by us so quickly every day we get bogged down in so many meaningless things that don't matter. We create idols and call them ministries or we get sucked into lifestyles and status and call it something we deserve as if we are more worthy than those across the world without even clean water.. and we sit in our circles and our clean houses with running (hot) water and we forget that we were not called to freedom to simply be free but to free others.

But so often we can't see from behind our picket fences, our jobs, our circle of friendsour age bracket, our ministries, our ways of doing things to see that we've made God's gifts to us our idols.

And our idols entangle us and they keep us from being free and freeing others.

So here's to cleaning house, to stripping away our tight holds from God's gifts to us and to trading what we feel we deserve for the job he has for us. Let's set aside for good what we crave and give our thoughts to what builds up our bothers and sisters and let's get back walking daily, step by baby step, within the will of our father.

Here's to gathering together in little spaces on Feb 6th and 7th through the IF:GATHERING and BELIEVING that when two or more are gathered in his name, HE WILL ANSWER OUR PRAYERS!

I'm linking the actual song to this post via a YouTube video, but here are the lyrics as well. Let your eyes rest on them, take it in and let's clear the stage... Let's clear it and free it up from everything except the father!

I love you, thanks for running the race with me and I can not wait to see what the next season holds!

Clear The Stage

Clear the stage and set the sound and lights ablaze if that's the measure you must take to crush the idols
Jerk the pews & all the decorations, too
until the congregations few, then have revival
Tell your friends that this is where the party ends until you're broken for your sins, you can't be social
Then seek the Lord & wait for what He has in store and know that great is your reward so just be hopeful

'Cause you can sing all you want to
Yes, you can sing all you want to
You can sing all you want to
And still get it wrong;
worship is more than a song

Take a break from all the plans that you have made and sit at home alone and wait for God to whisper
Beg Him please to open up His mouth and speak and pray for real upon your knees until they blister
Shine the light on every corner of your life
until the pride and lust and lies are in the open
Then read the Word and put to test the things you've heard until your heart and soul are stirred and rocked and broken

'Cause you can sing all you want to
Yes, you can sing all you want to
You can sing all you want to and still get it wrong; worship is more than a song
We must not worship something that's not even worth it
Clear the stage, make some space for the One who deserves it

Any thing I put, before my God, is an idol
Any thing I want, with all my heart, is an idol
Any thing I can't, stop thinking of, is an idol
Any thing that I, give all my love, is an idol

Cause I can sing all I want to
Yes I can, sing all I want to
And we can, sing all we want to
We can, sing all we want to
We can sing all we want to
And still get it wrong
Worship is more than a song

Clear the stage and set the sound and lights ablaze
If that's the measure you must take to crush the idols......
